TV Review: My Sassy Girl (2017) (Historical Rom-Com)

My Sassy Girl (엽기적인 그녀)

Historical Rom-Com

A refined young Joseon scholar's life turns upside down after he rescues a drunk princess who later accuses him of taking something precious from her.

My Sassy Girl was a drama that started as a fairly frivolous comedy but then settled into a more serious tale of court intrigue with a related romance plot. Once the initial over-the-top comedy ended I was able to relax into the story and enjoy it more. The pacing was generally good, with plenty of action amidst the drama, and I enjoyed the performances by all the leads. Naturally, as soon as Jung Woong-in appeared on the screen, I knew he would be the villain; he always seems to get cast as the villain! Anyway, this was a fun watch and will appeal to fans of the lighter end of historical drama. I am giving it 4.5 stars.
