I am always up for a good BL drama and I have watched some fun Thai ones before, so when I saw Dare You to Death come up on Netflix I immediately planned to give it a try. I made it to the end... and I consider that a great feat of determination on my part, as this was awful. Netflix bills it as a 'thriller', likely due to the murder spree taking place, but there is really nothing thriller about it. There is no tension at all, and no one actually seems to care about the serial killer on the lose. They could have caught the culprit earlier and saved lives if they'd spent as much time working on the case as they did flirting and making out. In the first episode they hated each other, and then they were suddenly attracted to each other, and then in love, with no real sense of why their feelings suddenly changed. If the two leads were not flirting with each other then other characters were flirting with them, and in some episodes the main plot barely featured at all. This might have been forgiven if the romance had at least been gripping, but it wasn't. The two leads had zero chemistry and no one in the cast could act. It made me cringe watching it, and I almost gave up, but I did want to at least find out who the killer was, and I didn't guess ahead of time, so at least that twist worked. I rarely rate anything lower than 3 stars (and then it's only the occasional 2.5) but here I have to go all out and give it only 1 star. I can't recommend it to ever the greatest BL fans.
