Sci-Fi
When a malfunctioning AI system jeopardizes a spaceship, a technician must enter a crew member's dream to retrieve a key code and save the passengers.
Per Aspera Ad Astra was an enjoyable sci-fi romp. It begins on a more comedic note, and a certain amount of humour does continue through, but as the story progresses it becomes more serious, with a deeper message and higher stakes in the plot. It plays on a lot of tropes in a teasing way that makes you smile, and it acknowledges those playful jabs. Dylan Wang is an actor good at slipping from comedy to serious, and I especially enjoyed his interactions with Victoria Song. The effects were generally, and often vibrant, colourful and fun. The pacing of the movie was just right and the time watching it passed quickly. I am giving this one 4.5 stars. It was very entertaining yet also thoughtful at times.
