Forced to meet. Forbidden to feel. Fated to love.
1783, Joseon. A commoner girl is taken from her home into the household of a prestigious aristocratic family. She spends seven nights each month with a young master in a moonlit room — at the tearful request of his wife.
An Illustrated Novel for Korean Learners in Historical K-Drama Script Format
This isn't your typical textbook — it's a completely new way to learn Korean through a gripping historical romance you'll actually want to binge-read. Dive into an intense, addictive story that feels just like a K-drama, all while naturally improving your Korean. A language book has never been this fun.
Perfect For: K-drama lovers · Korean learners tired of childish storybooks · visual learners · upper-beginner to intermediate readers · fans of addictive historical romance
Bonus: Experience the story with a curated K-pop playlist — the very songs the author listened to while writing, selected to bring each scene to life like a K-drama.
I have now finished the third book in the four-volume series The Moon Caught in the Pine Tree
for Korean learners. As with the first two books, I thought this was a
wonderful resource for English-speaking students of Korean at a
high-beginner level. The story continued well and again featured
beautiful illustrations. The text is presented like a script, with the
English translation below each of the Korean lines, and story is
supplemented by grammar explanations, song recommendations to accompany
each chapter, and historical information. If you are learning Korean and
love historical K-dramas, this is definitely a book to check out, but
you will need to start at book one to be able to follow the story
properly. Intermediate learners may find it a little easy at times, but
because the story is good fun, it is still great practice even if reading
it is not a major challenge. This third volume ended on an even bigger cliffhanger than the last two books,
so I am keen to get the final volume as soon as I can afford it, as I am anxious to see how the story will end! I am giving this one 4.5 stars.
