Clara Wagner has always known that monsters are real, and the worst of them is Prince Raleigh of Rostenburg. But when he decides it’s time to marry, Clara inadvertently finds herself at the center of his attention.

Forced to accept Raleigh’s proposal, Clara would do anything to escape her fate. So when the prince provides an ultimatum―lift his vampiric curse before the end of the year, or become his bride for eternity―Clara knows what she must do.

Heal the prince. Stay alive. Try not to fall in love.

Vow of Eternal Night was a fun vampire take on the Beauty and the Beast story. I enjoyed the premise, the setting and the characters, and the story generally moved along at a good pace. The only thing that didn't work 100% for me was the romance. It was okay, but I didn't really feel taken along properly on the journey from enemies to lovers; it didn't come across very passionately for me. Nonetheless, this was still an enjoyable read that kept me happily turning the pages each night. There was a smidge of humour along the way, and the characters, including the secondary characters, were generally well drawn and engaging. Had I felt a little more spark between Raleigh and Clara this might have made it to 5 stars, but as it stands I am going with 4.5 stars on this one. If you enjoy vampire stories and fairytale retellings, then this book will likely be a good fit for you. I must also give a quick final nod to the lovely cover design and the exquisite stenciled edges on my edition.
