Book Tag: Bookish Questions Challenge

Today I am taking part in the Bookish Questions Challenge Book Tag and I welcome anyone who likes the concept to join in! I am unsure of the creator, but if you know please comment below and I will credit them.

Genre you stay away from: Chick Lit & True Crime

Worst habit as a reader: Flicking through the danmei books to see the illustrations before reading

Do you read the synopsis: I always read the blurb on the back of a book, but never a full synopsis of the story as I hate spoilers. For the same reason, I prefer any trigger warnings to be hidden behind a click link, so those who want to read them can do so but I can choose not to view them to avoid spoilers.

Do you read used books: Sometimes, but I tend to donate my used ones more often.

Favourite books from last year: My five-star reads from 2025 were: We Do Not Part (Han Kang), Archipelago (Natalie Bakopoulos), The Death-Made Prince (Lisette Marshall), Empire of the Dawn (Jay Kristoff), Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil (V. E. Schwab), The Raven Scholar (Antonia Hodgson), Useless Etymology (Jess Zafarris), Heaven Official's Blessing - The Comic Vol. 1 (Mo Xiand Tong Xiu & STARember) and The Irresistible Urge to Fall for your Enemy (Brigitte Knightley).

Favourite classic book: Jane Eyre (Simply because it's the first one that popped into my mind, but I could name a host of others too.)

Book you always recommend: The Winternight Trilogy by Katherine Arden

Book you didn't like: Tristram Shandy by Laurence Stern

Current read: A Stage Set for Villains by Shannon J. Spann

Book(s) you're looking forward to reading soon: I can't wait for Victorius by V. E. Schwab and The Exquisite Torment of Loving Your Enemy by Brigitte Knightley.

Book(s) you're ashamed you haven't read yet:  I can't think of any at present.
