TV Review: Dynamite Kiss (2025) (Rom-Com)

A passionate fling in Jeju ends abruptly — until fate reunites an heir and a young woman when she joins his company, disguised as a married mother

Dynamite Kiss started strongly with a fun premise and a great meet-cute for the couple. This was a rom-com with a good dose of melodrama. This worked well for the early setup. However, I thought some of the additional over-the-top events in the last episode were a bit too much and unnecessary. Actually, with some tighter editing, this series could have been 12 episodes instead of 14 because there was also a lot of filler in some of the later episodes, mostly in the form of montages as the characters remembered events from the past. There were two occasions where this was a reasonable action and the flashbacks worked, but in the other instances it was pointless and just seemed to be filling in time in the episode. The acting was good and there were some nice visuals, but the pacing, as noted, was sometimes a bit off and some of the action later in the story could have been cut without upsetting the plot. As such, I am giving this one 4 stars. It was entertaining and fun, and if you like melodrama rom-coms with plenty of humour, this will be worth a watch, but it's not one I would rush back to view a second time.
