When a raging flood traps a researcher and her young son, a call to a crucial mission puts their escape — and the future of humanity — on the line.
When I suggested to my husband last night that we watch The Great Flood, we went in expecting a standard disaster movie, and for the opening scenes that is what it seemed to be, but then the plot twisted in a way that took us by surprise. At heart, this is less a disaster-action movie and more a science-fiction piece. Although we were surprised by the sudden change, we didn't mind it, and the film was still entertaining but in a different way. However, it did have some flaws, mostly in relation to plot holes/lack of explanation of some key points. Nonetheless, the visual effects were great and overall it entertained us, so despite it not being perfect, I am still giving this film 3.5 stars. It's perhaps not a film you'd pick over all others but it's worth a look if you have a couple of hours to kill and want something a bit different.
