Xie Lian, once the darling of the heavens, is a twice-banished god infamous for his fall from grace. Eight hundred years have passed since his mortal life as the Crown Prince of Xianle, and he’s now the laughingstock of the three realms. Volume 1 includes the prologue and episodes 1–14 of the original webcomic based on the webnovel Tian Guan Ci Fu published on JJWXC.
As a longtime fan of Heaven Official's Blessing in novel and anime form, I naturally rushed out to pre-order the first volume of the English translation of the webcomic as soon as I heard about it. This hardback edition was not cheap, but it was definitely worth it. The book is beautifully presented, with sprayed edges and colour illustrations throughout, printed on good quality paper. It was really fun to rediscover the story through its webcomic form, and I am excited to read the next volume when it releases in July. As with danmei novel releases, I will probably not review each volume in full unless I have something particular to say. Instead I will review the series as a whole when it comes to an end. For now, though, I definitely recommend this to existing fans. Naturally, as a webcomic, it does simplify the action a little, so if you want to understand the story in more detail, I suggest reading the novel first before coming to the webcomic. I am giving this one 5 stars.
