Film Review: Nosferatu (2024) (Horror)

In 19th century Germany, an ancient evil sets its sights on a lonely young woman, haunting her with eerie visions and terrifying her devoted husband.

I was already familiar with the original Nosferatu movie, so I was interested in what this remake would have to offer. It is a pretty faithful adaptation, even mirroring some of the shots of the shadow of the vampire's hands moving along the wall. Visually I thought it all worked really well and was atmospheric. The lead actors' performances, too, were good. Knowing how it would end did take away any potential tension, but I think most viewers would go in aware, at least in part, of what the outcome would be. So, overall it was enjoyable. I am a vampire fan, but I prefer the more handsome, mysterious strangers, romantic-style tales rather than vampires as gruesome corpses, so it's not a film I would rewatch, but I am certainly glad to have seen it once. I am giving it 4 stars as it was certainly well made. Worth a look for vampire fans.
