Crime Thriller
After moving to Bogotá for a chance at a better life, a young Korean man rises through the Colombian black market — risking peril for a shot at success. (Synopsis)
Bogota was a film that initially caught my interest. Guk-hee was an engaging character who had been thrust into an unfamiliar world, and it was fun to follow his journey. However, the movie fell down from the midway point. It all began to feel very similar and I wanted to see more from Guk-hee regarding his emotional journey. The ending in particular was a let down. It felt abrupt and I was left wondering what was next for Guk-hee and the others. I am giving it 3 stars. It was an interesting premise and had some good moments, but overall it felt unfinished and lacking in depth, especially given the fact the subject material would have left plenty of room for both more action and more emotion.
