Book Review: 고양이 단편 만화 by 남씨 (Manhwa)

이 책 고양이 단편 만화 에는 일러스트레이터이자 필자인 남씨가 자신의 SNS에 올릴 때마다 나만 귀여워 오열할 수 없다며 @친구소환 댓글이 꼬리에 꼬리를 물던 화제의 인기 단편 만화와 책으로만 공개하는 미공개 고양이 단편 만화가 가득 담겨 있다.

그 외에도 필자 남씨가 최초로 공개하는 룸메이트이자 동생인 탱고의 미공개 사진들과 단편 만화들 사이사이에 고양이 보호자라면 200% 공감하며 빵 터질 수밖에 없고, 나만 고양이가 없다고 외치는 랜선 집사라면 웃음과 함께 고양이의 호불호 행동은 물론 이유는 없지만 귀여우니 다 이해되는 초 단편 만화 <고양이 이상과 현실>도 함께 꾹꾹 눌러 담았다. 

 

If I were to review this book solely on its own merits as a funny comic, I would give it about 3.5 stars, as it is cute and entertaining. However, I bought it as a language-study aid for Korean reading practice, and on that front I can only give it 2.5 stars. The reason for this is that it is especially picture-heavy and rather light on text. What text there is would be reasonably easy to follow even for a beginner, so it might be okay for someone picking up a book written in Korean for the first time, but as an intermediate learner I found it too easy and whizzed through it in just a handful of days without really needing to look anything up and without learning any new vocabulary. If you want something light, fluffy and easy, it will be fine, but if you are wanting something to challenge you a bit, it is probably not the best book to choose. I will split the different between by two scores and give it 3 stars.
