(This is a late review for a show I saw last year. I was too tired and had back pain when I got back from my trip, and then I forgot I had not yet done this review until I was penning a new theatre review for this year. So, I am now catching up.)

The musical version of Back to the Future was an entertaining show, but it did have some flaws. To deal with the negatives first, the songs were simply not memorable. They were not bad per se, but I did not come out the theatre humming any of them, and now, five months on, I cannot recall a single lyric or melody from them. An issue for a musical perhaps; however, this is probably not a show you go to for the music, which brings me to the show's best element: the staging. This was simply fantastic. The set and general staging recreated the film well and the highlight was the car, especially during the final scenes of the race through town to reach the clock tower as lightening strikes. With the iconic music playing and the car seeming to race across the stage with the help of animatronics and projection, this was a high-adrenaline moment for sure. If you are a fan of the film, this musical is worth seeing for nostalgia and for the fun of seeing it brought to life on stage. I am giving it 4.5 stars not because it is an amazing musical but rather because it is an amazing spectacle and worth seeing once just for the staging.
