Street Level Japan offers a fascinating representation of Japan's major cities with images outside the usual tourist scenic shots. Harada has captured an amazing vibe, through his night shots in particular, and I loved how the images showed the contrast of tradition and modernity, the neon signs alongside Showa-era architecture. The captions were short but offered some insight into the inspiration behind each image, and overall this is a book that will appeal to those interested in Japan as well as those who just enjoy armchair travel. I am giving it 4 stars.

I received this book as a free eBook ARC via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
