Hundreds of cash-strapped players accept a strange invitation to compete in children's games. Inside, a tempting prize awaits — with deadly high stakes.
After such a strong second series, I was excited to see how they would end Squid Game in season three. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointment on a few levels. I didn't find it as gripping as season two, and Lee Jung-jae wasn't given much scope to do anything except maintain a silent, fixed glare through most of these final episodes. I was really let down by the ending (though I will keep silent on why to avoid spoilers) and I grew sick of the number of painful scenes featuring the VIPs. Not only were these dull, not one of the VIPs could act, so watching/listening to them was cringe inducing. On the plus side, there were some more imaginative and interesting games and the story did mostly wrap things up even if it was not in the way I would have liked. I am giving it four stars. It was flawed, but if you've watched this far you will want to see how things conclude.
