Film Review: Embrace Again (2021) (Drama)

Embrace Again (穿过寒冬拥抱你)
2021
PG
Drama

In January of 2020, Wuhan, China, was put on lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. During this harsh time, the citizens in Wuhan are given the courage to move forward by love and laughter and embrace each other once again. (Synopsis)

This is another film I came to purely for Zhu Yilong, so I was a little sad an actor of his calibre didn't get a bit more screen time and more to work with. That aside, though, this was an okay drama. It was well acted and had emotional impact, and some of the shots were nice too. It did feel a bit propaganda-like at times, with its mostly rosy outlook, but it did also give a sense of the conditions in Wuhan during the lockdown. This is perhaps not a film I would rewatch, but it was okay to pass a quiet evening with. As such I am giving it 3.5 stars.
